When the market is flocked by a lot of international beauty brands and the prices of their products rising day by day, I was inclined to try out some Indian brands which can offer quality products at affordable prices. So, after a lot of contemplation and hesitation, I decided to try a much-raved product of the brand that has recently been very popular.
Sugar Cosmetics was the brand and their Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipsticks shades and finish looked really amazing in photos. Their Matte as Hell Crayons is favorite of many! Though it’s not super affordable, however, I was ready to dispense 500/- for a product that can prove to be better than their international counterparts. So, I ordered just one shade to try out and that was the one that caught my attention a long time ago and was in my wish-list! Sugar Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick in the shade Vivid Orchid.
About The Looks!
The packaging is also one thing that I love of this brand! It’s chic, attractive and looks and feels international! I love the abstract pop art pattern on their boxes! I really like the logo and the name of the brand too! The lipstick comes packed in a cardboard box top half of which has the pattern that I mentioned above. The bottom half is black with the name of the brand, product, price, ingredients, etc., printed over. The liquid lipstick comes in a transparent container of which the inside is shaped like a lipstick bullet. The lid is black in color and has a wand attached to it. The lid has the logo and the name of the brand and the lipstick container has the name of the product printed over it. Honestly, I love the packaging of the box more than the lipstick. So, I’m going to keep the box to feel good! haha 😀

My views on the Sugar Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick in Vivid Orchid!
God knows, for how long I had wanted this shade! This lipstick wasn’t just coming in my priority list even though when I really wished to get it. I was really happy to finally be able to try it out! It was this particular shade which I wanted to own. It’s a beautiful and bright orchid or violet color which is a beautiful mix of bold and yet beautiful! It is such a perfect shade for autumn and winters!
When I swatched it for the first time on my wrist it looked uneven and oily. My first expression was a disappointment but then I shook the lipstick to mix the contents well and then swatched again. The result was fabulous! Highly pigmented, velvety texture and a smooth swatch! Moral of the story – shake the lippie before use. When I applied it on my lips, the texture was really buttery and comfortable and insanely pigmented. Just one layer was more than enough. It took around a minute to dry out completely and after that, it was super matte.
This matte finish was slightly uncomfortable and I had to stretch my lips to ease them a little. Once they were stretched they were perfectly fine. A very fine layer of lip balm might ease the discomfort a little. I wore it for almost 8-9 hours and this lipstick stayed on pretty well! It does come off from the inside of the lips the portion which is mucusy. So when you say something with “O” sounds, the sharp blank inner lip will show. Since it’s such a dark shade it is visible even more because it creates a sharp contrast between the two. However, the rest of it stays completely intact.
This lipstick is absolutely waterproof and it won’t come off with just water even when you want to take it off. You will have to use a waterproof makeup remover for this. The swatch that was on my wrist, I forgot to take it off and it was there for more than 24 hours even after I had my shower and I had to remove it using a waterproof makeup remover. Now, this is the part that some people may or may not like. I would like to use these lipsticks when I know that I won’t get a chance to touch up such as wedding parties or any all-night parties or stage shows. I might not prefer them on a casual day to day basis. I would reach this only when I have to wear this particular shade for a look.
To summarise, this shade is gorgeous and drool-worthy, the texture during the application is great but after drying a little uncomfortable which can be eased by stretching the lips, the lasting power is insane but it does come off from the inner lining of the lips and looks a little awkward while speaking but the thing that troubles me the most is that it contains Parabens. I really hope that they work on to eliminate this ingredient soon!
So, I still feel that at the price of 499/- this lipstick is a great pick and I would certainly like to try a couple of more shades with at least one being a lighter shade. I must say that this certainly is one of the best products from an Indian brand and is totally in competition with a few international brands. That was all for today and I really hope you like the review and found it helpful! Do follow me on Instagram and Youtube along with the blog. I will be back with another one very soon! B-Bye!!
