Recently Maybelline launched one of its most awaited products in India! The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette! This palette was already launched in the U.S. and some more other countries last year but now it has been launched in India too! When I got to know that the palette was available in the stores even before the official announcement by the brand, I literally rushed to the store and got them. I actually got two! 🙂 Ever since I got this palette I have been using it for every outing, meet or party I went to! And now I am ready to review it for you!
About The Looks!
The palette comes in a flip open rectangular box with a transparent top and black bottom. The lid of the box also has the name of the brand the product printed. The bottom has all the other information such as the ingredients, price, quantity, etc. It also has a guide on how to convert or use the eye shadows as quads, trios and duos, whatever is suitable for you and the occasion. The packaging is simple and of okay quality. But certainly good for the price. The shadows don’t have any individual name or shade number, which actually I would have loved. The names or number of the shades makes it easy for me to share what shadow was used in a make up look. I hope you understood what I mean. 🙂 A double sided sponge applicator is provided with the palette. One side has the broader wand for lid application and the other one is thinner for crease application.

My views and experience with the nudes palette!
Color and Shades – The colors in the palette are a mix of cool and warm toned, 10 neutral shadows. Some of them are lid colors, some crease and some transition and highlighting shades. I like the mix of matte and shimmery shades, which is really great, because I really don’t like a palette which has all shimmery shades. That makes me carry some matte shades always in case I am travelling. Palettes with a combination of matte and shimmery shadows makes it complete and travel friendly.
Pigmentation – Now comes the most crucial part, the pigmentation of these shadows as that will decide their performance. On the first swatch on my wrist I noticed that not all the shadows have good pigmentation. Actually only 5 shadows have great pigmentation and give good color in one swipe. Other 4 have average pigmentation and would require to be built up. Three of the shades are the least pigmented and needs a lot of layering for the color to show up. If you look at the picture, you will notice that in the first row shade number 1 and 4 are the most pigmented shades, they are only one swipes in the swatch. However, shade number 2, 3 and 6 have average pigmentation. In the swatch there are 3-4 swipes. Shade number 5 is the least pigmented in the top row. It looks very dark in the palette, but the color pay-out is disappointing. In the bottom row shade number 1, 3 and 4 are the most pigmented and only swipe is enough to get the desired color. Whereas, shade number 5 has average pigmentation and it required again 3-4 swipes to get some decent color pay-out. Shade number 2 and 6 are the most disappointing. In the palette they are one of the darkest shades and yet the pigmentation is poor. Even after 3-4 swipes the color didn’t show up very nicely.
Texture and Formulation – I like the texture of the shadows. They don’t feel cheap or extremely chalky. There is a little bit of fall out, but not too much. They are soft and easy to blend and work with. The shimmery shades are beautiful!! My favorites are the shade number 4 from the top row and shade number 1, 3 and 4 from the bottom row. For highlighting shade number 1 from the top row is my favorite. I use shade number 2 from the bottom row as a transition shade. For crease I like the shade number 5 and 6 from the top row.
Lasting Power – The lasting power of these shadows is actually good! I was surprised with the fact that in spite of some colors being so less pigmented they did last quite well! That certainly means that once they are on the lid they won’t move. They have lasted for about 6-8 hours with no creasing or fading. After 8 hours you would see a lot of fading of the matte colors and mostly the highlighting and transition shades. In other words the less pigmented shades will be first to fade. So I am really impressed with this factor!
Overall I really like this palette a lot! It’s a good quality and absolutely worth the price. It’s really hard to find a palette of 12 shadows of such quality in just INR 899! I would say everyone, especially those who are new to make up and want to play with eyeshadows, this is a great pick for you! Being a neutral shadows palette, its meant for every skin tone! Even though I am not happy with a lot of shades, but still they somehow work just fine! I would certainly recommend this to everyone!
