I am back today with a review of another lipstick! This its the Maybelline Color Show Lipstick in the Shade Crushed Candy. Maybelline launched the collection at the beginning of the autumn season. By looking at the range of shades in the collection I could make out that it was launched for winter. It ranges from Bright pinks to fuchsias and from bright tangerines to deep reds, browns and mauves. So let’s get started and see if I like it. 🙂
About the Looks!
The lipstick comes in a black square tube packaging with rounded edges. The case is not sturdy and is of cheap quality. It attracts a lot of dust and gets easily scratched. There is a stripe of color between the bottom and the cap of the lipstick which is of the color of the lipstick. Its not very accurate but can tell which one is pink or fuchsia and which one is red. The bottom of the lipstick has a sticker of the color of the lipstick with the name of the brand, collection and shade name and number of the lipstick printed on it. The bottom can help better to locate the particular shade than the stripe provided.

My experience with this lipstick!
I was really excited to try out the collection when it came out, but my excitement kind of died when I tried the lipstick for the first time. 🙁 First impression, very sheer pigmentation. You have to swipe it multiple times to get the desired color pay off. Plus, it has a very streaky and patchy application, it flakes and settles in the fine lines while application. A big turn off!! Another big turn off was that it has shimmery finish, not pearly but shimmery!! I really do’t like such lipsticks. I like, creamy, creamy matte, semi matte or completely matte. People who are okay with this kind of finish can use it, but I am still not happy with the quality as well!
The application is not smooth and you will need to really go over and over again to get a better finish. The lipstick has a fruity smell and has a wired chemical taste. (Notice the flakes and small patches in the pictures below).
Lasting power is not good either, it lasts for 4 hours max, if not eating or drinking. Otherwise, its not going to last for more than 2 hours. It transfer to the cups and glasses very easily.
It does not leave a stain or tint behind. The color is a very pretty rosy pink color with cool undertones, but lipstick suffer with quality issues. However, people who want a lipstick for regular use without spending too much can get this one.
Overall, I am not really happy with this lipstick and particularly this shade. I expected so much good which it has failed to deliver. The packaging and formulation are not of good quality. Sheer color, streaky and patchy application is huge turn off for me. Its a 3/10 lipstick for me.‘
That’s all for today, I will be back with many more posts very soon!
I hope you all liked the review and found it helpful.
Have a lovely day!! XOXO
