Maybelline recently launched their new Baby Lips Candy Wow Lip Crayons, which basically are lip balms but in a different packaging and much more pigmented than the regular baby lips lip balms. I bought two of them recently and have been using both everyday alternatively. The ones I got are in the shades – Cherry and Mixed Berry. I was looking for Raspberry but it was sold out. So let’s get in to the review part!
About The Looks!
I really love the packaging! They look so attractive with such pretty colors and I have always loved the font of whatever is written or printed on them. The packaging is such that they look like fat crayons with a twist up bullet. The color of the crayon packaging is respective to its shade. The packaging is of good quality and is sturdy. The cap closes securely and does not open when in the bag. I would say again that I really love the packaging, its travel friendly, easy to locate and so cute!!!! 😀

My experience with the shade Cherry and Mixed Berry!
Color and Pigmentation – I absolutely love the shade Cherry! I am being very honest with you, I really loved it. The first reason behind it is its color pay off! I wasn’t expecting a color like a lipstick, but some color that at least shows up on your lips and that too in a lip balm. The color is like a very sheer and toned down bright red. It gives a pretty color on your lips and the color stays on for a pretty long time until you wipe it off or you lick it! 😀
On the other hand Mixed Berry got my mixed reactions. It is because it does give a pretty mauvy pink color which is visible but not as much as Cherry. The reason behind that is because my natural lip color is on the mauvy side and a mauve lip color doesn’t show up well on me. It kind of gets hidden. I won’t say that it doesn’t shows at all, but it shows a little less than Cherry. Wish it was slightly more pigmented. This shade also leaves a slight hint of color on lips even after the glossiness of the lip balm has gone.
Formulation – I love the formula of these better than the regular lip balms. They are much more moisturizing and soft on your lips.It leaves your lips feeling super soft and cushion-y. They feel more like a gloss than a lip balm. It feels like that you are wearing a sheer gloss. Everyone has complimented me while I was wearing the shade Cherry, they said your lipstick/lip gloss is very pretty! Its was all worth that moment! 😀
The lip balm is not sticky or patchy. You would need to layer up a little to get a good color but still it won’t feel heavy on the lips. The glossiness fades evenly and the stain or hint of the color is even and not at all patchy.
Lasting Power – The lasting power is quite average. The hydration or moisturization that this lip crayon provides lasts for a pretty long time, roughly 4-5 hours without drinks or meals. The glossiness stays for about an hour or two but the color stays a little more longer than that.

Overall I feel, the pigmentation is way better than the regular baby lips lip balms and the color also lasts for a little longer. I love the glossy finish of this balm and it also keeps my lips well moisturized really well for a long time. I love the packaging and looking forward to buy the rest of the shades too! I certainly love them both, though I wish mixed berry was a little more pigmented. If you are looking for a product that keeps your lips hydrated and gives some color but not string as a lipstick, then you need this in your life! Its glossy finish makes it look like a lip gloss!!
