KIKO Nail Lacquers in Shades 227, 530, 497 Review and Swatch!

Its been a while that I posted anything about nail paints, even when I have been buying and using them frequently! If you saw my previous haul post, I mentioned about getting a few nail paints from KIKO Milano. I had been using all of them since October and really wanted to tell you about them, but I don’t know what happened! Now, let bygones be bygones and I here welcome you to the review and swatches of the three KIKO Nail Lacquers in the shades 227, 530 and 497!! 😀

About The Looks!

The nail paints come in a transparent bottle with a black cap with matte finish. The nail paints don’t have names and have just shade numbers. Those numbers are printed on the sticker pasted on the bottle at the back which also has information like shelf life, bar code, etc. The sticker on the front has the name of the brand and the product, with quantity. The packaging is nice and classic. I like the matte finish on the caps. The material feels of quite good quality.

My views and thoughts about the KIKO Nail Lacquers in the shades 227, 530, 497!

Shade 227 – This shade is a deep burgundy color with some wine undertones. It is a beautiful color and I am in love with it! Perfect for fall/autumn and winter! The deep color gives a feeling of warmth which I really love. When I first used the nail paint, it appeared a little thicker than usual and it was applying a little patchy. I don’t know why this happened but I added a few drops of the nail paint thinner and it was superbly revived! It applied smooth and even and is opaque in one coat! To make it more grungy and deep you can go for one or two more layers and it will become deeper and darker! Staying power of this is around 4-5 days, depending upon the count of layers you put on and also the kind of work you do. For people who wash clothes or dishes or wash their hands  frequently might have a less lasting power than others. A base coat and top coat will elongate the lasting power to a couple of days more!

Shade 530 –This was the one that I picked up first in the store! When I saw this shade I was completely in awe and I picked it up immediately! The shade is glittery/shimmery blue-green in color. I can’t call it turquoise, though it sometimes does look like that, but I would still call it somewhat a mix of both. With changing lights the color appears different. Its a gorgeousness in a bottle! Perfect festival shade! Super love the color! The formula is amazing too! Its not thick at all, rather it is quite perfect in consistency! It applies evenly and smoothly on the nails and is pretty opaque in the first layer itself! I prefer another coat to make it even more opaque and beautiful! Lasting power of this one is better than the other shade! It lasted me a week without any chipping! I loved it! I didn’t use any top coat and though I am sure it would have elongated the lasting power even more!

Shade 497 – When I saw this in the store, it looked quite similar in formula to the shade 530, but a different color. It looked like a deep yet bright purple color with gold shimmer. When applied it was quite different. It turned out it be not as glittery as the shade above, rather it was a very fine shimmer, which is visible only when it is seen up close. The shade is purple yes, but very deep and has strong dark blue or violet undertones. When it is applied on the nails, you would see the dark blue or violet color very clearly. Its not bad, but its not my favorite as a color. I love the top two more than this. Though I have used it a lot since I got it, because it is really fall/autumn and winter appropriate shade! It looks really good! It applies absolutely opaque in first coat and you really don’t need another one, though if you want to, you certainly can! Lasting power is again great, credit goes to its consistency which is thicker than the other two. It takes a little more time to dry, but stays longer as well. It lasted me about a week and a half without any major chipping!
