Recently Godrej Nupur sent me their newly launched Coconut Henna Crème Hair Colors to try and out. They sent me a hamper with all the four colors that they launched. This was the first time ever I was coloring my hair with the ones that come in sachets. Normally I opt for bottled ones as I find them easy to apply. But I was absolutely ready to try this new product on as it said “No Ammonia”!!
The power bank they sent is totally awesome!! 😀

My experience with the hair color!
My hair was colored in a deep plum color earlier, so I chose the burgundy shade which came closest to that. I love trying out offbeat colors, and I stay away from all the natural browns or dark browns . 🙂 I have a lot of grey hair, thanks to the heredity, so I wanted to try it out on the roots and on the ends, to see how it works in two separate areas. What I mean is that I wanted to see if it would cover the grey hair and how will it perform on the naturally colored hair.
As soon as I cut open the pack the sweet coconut scent was all over!! OMG! I did not feel that I opened a pack of hair color at all!! I felt like I opened a bottle of coconut oil! It was that strong. I did the Skin Hypersensitivity test a couple of days before applying the color to make sure that I am not allergic to any of its ingredients. It is really important to do this test for any hair color that you go for.
The color is of dark green color just like henna and is very thick (actually I thought that it was henna 😀 ) and the developer is the same white liquid as available in other colors in the market. I applied the color using a brush and to my surprise applying using a brush was much neater than applying with a comb applicator! I might now always apply color using a brush if I color at home the next time. After 30 minutes I rinsed out the color as instructed on the leaflet provided and left to air dry. After drying I observed that my hair was oily! As if I had applied oil in my hair! I could also see the presence of pure henna in the hair color as my scalp did have the orange-ish henna color! So I decided to wash my hair with shampoo the next morning. After shampooing the next morning, the scalp was clean and the oil was also gone. After air drying the hair I noticed the color, which now was looking better. There was a scent of coconut oil all over in my hair and I am sure that there was coconut oil mixed with the color, which to me is quite interesting. I have never come across such a hair color!
My grey hair were fully covered with reddish orange color, the way burgundy color would look on white and my natural hair had a visible tint of burgundy. I like the fact that it does cover all the grey hair and also provide a good color to the rest of the hair, however I feel the a person with a lot of grey hair might get two toned hair, if they chose burgundy. So my suggestion would be to choose the color that is close to your natural hair color and that would ensure the single hair color overall and would look natural too. For people who don’t have grey hair, this color is good enough to provide a visible tint of the color you wish to apply.
The color doesn’t have ammonia but has parabens, however, at this price it certainly is a good option for people who want to color their hair in the comfort of their homes and don’t want to spend too much. The amount provided is just enough for a touch up on the roots. For application on long hair, one would need two or more packs. I would be observing the lasting power of this color as well.

My overall thoughts about this color is that it is a good option for people who like to color at home for touch up purposes. It does have coconut oil and henna in the color which is quite interesting as coconut oil is a natural conditioner and henna gives your hair softness & shine. Washing with a shampoo will be required after rinsing off the color as the hair is still enriched with coconut oil and the scalp would have the effect of henna color as well. Keeping these things in mind one can surely go ahead with this color with no disappointment!!
