OMG!! It’s been like forever since I wrote any thing on the blog! I was sick and busy with so many things. I recently changed my time schedule and have been struggling a lot to figure out how to manage time. Anyways, I will get through those difficulties very soon. Finally I found time to write the post which has been pending for a really long time.
Dabur Vatika organised an event called Brave and Beautiful, dedicated to all the women who fought and defeated cancer and they invited me to be a part of it. The event highlighted the stories of the women and their courageous journey. Dabur Vatika is known for its hair care products, so you must be wondering what does it has to do with the cancer patients. Well, the most used and common treatment of any cancer is chemotherapy, and this actually destroys cancer cells as well as normal cells, that drastically alters appearance, weakening physical and mental health. One of the side effects of chemotherapy is baldness, which can cause a low self-esteem, but these women fought it bravely and did not feel any less beautiful than any other women with hair.
The event had discussion panels with guests like Lisa Ray, Salim Merchant, Nandini Bhlla and many others from renowned magazines, news channels, doctors and psychiatrists and the brave women who fought and defeated cancer. The panels discussed about the difficulties women patients face both physical and mental and what could be solutions to those and also discussed how to be confident and beautiful with baldness.
After the panel discussions a book dedicated to all the brave and beautiful women who fought and defeated cancer was released. It cover stories of all those cancer survivors about how they held themselves up in those difficult times.
There was a small session with Salim Merchant the famous music composer and singer. He sang the campaign song ” Tu Faulad Hai”. Its a beautiful song sung amazingly by Salim. It was quite a melodious session!
Later, two hair care products dedicated to the cancer fighters were launched. They were the Dabur Vatika B&B Shampoo and Dabur Vatika B&B Hair Oil, both for sensitive scalp and hair.
After the launch a felicitation for all the cancer fighters was done by the Minister of health and family welfare Mr. J. P. Nadda and short speech by him about the measures taken on the same followed by dinner.
Take a look at the contents of the bag and the magazines that I picked up from the event.
The event was quite an emotional one as it highlighted struggle of a cancer patient particularly a woman, who has family and social responsibilities. How the woman is looked down upon by others and most of the times the husbands by her physical appearance and how gender bias comes in to picture during those times. It was heart breaking, eye opener and really inspiring! I was extremely glad to be a part of that event and would thank Dabur Vatika for inviting me!
At the time of leaving we got the launched book and products and there were loads of magazines and papers on display and were available for the all the attendees. I picked up a few magazines related to health and discovery facts.
That was all about the event, I will be back with some more posts very soon!! Have a great day!!
