“Drum Rolls” Finally The Body Shop joins the liquid lipstick bandwagon!! I guess I was the most excited when I heard about it and after looking at the shades on their Instagram page, I was going crazy!! The shades looked really gorgeous!! Anyway, I got to try out a few shades from them and I picked up colors that covered all categories, well, almost all. I have been trying them out since more than two weeks now and today I will be sharing my experience on The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquids!!
About The Looks!
The matte lip liquids come in a tube packaging. I guess the tube is transparent and the color of the product makes for the color of the tube but I could be wrong and the tube itself might be colored of the same color as the product. The cap is of velvet matte finish which I love and is black in color. The wand is a thin one with an incline on the tip. I would say it’s not the best wand but still a good one. It’s firm and of the right size which helps in a near precise application. I would always prefer a doe foot applicator as that has worked best as per my experience. I like the packaging, its good quality and feels premium. Nothing very different or unique about it but still great!

My experience and views about The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquids!
I was really excited about these lip liquids because I personally love liquid lipsticks a lot and when more and more brands launch them in India, it makes me really happy. It would mean that I don’t really have to get it from the U.S. or Dubai anymore! I had high hopes with these and was really looking forward to trying them out.
I got the five shades from the collection of 12. The ones I got are –
- Nairobi Camellia 034
- Goa Magnolia 026
- Sydney Amaryllis 014
- Tahiti Hibiscus 016
- Sicily Iris 019
The first shade I tried was Goa Magnolia because I was really attracted towards since the time I swatched it on my hand! And boy! It was exactly what I expected! Such a beautiful shade, oh my God! I am so much in love with it. It is a mauve pink but a bright one! The pigmentation and the application of this one were just so perfect! The formula is soft velvet when you apply it and after a few minutes, it dries matte. However, it is not super drying. It is very comfortable on the lips! The lasting power was another amazing part. It lasted a messy burger that I had! Hands down the best one in the collection!
Coming to the other shades, starting from the nude one. Nairobi Camellia is a perfect nude shade for anyone! It’s a gorgeous nude and is perfect for my skin tone. Sydney Amaryllis is another beautiful bright orange-red color which I really love! This color will compliment any Indian skin tone and will instantly brighten up the face! Tahiti Hibiscus is a gorgeous cool toned red which is dark yet bright. It’s not a super dark shade but it’s not very bright either. This color actually makes your teeth look whiter! 🙂 The last shade is the Sicily Iris which is a super dark and vampy shade! It’s a deep dark purple and is perfect for fall or winter, personally, I would go for this one in winters!
When it comes to the pigmentation, all the shades have a different story. Goa Magnolia has the best pigmentation, application and formula. Then comes the Nairobi Camellia and Sydney Amaryllis. They both need two layers for an opaque pigment on the lips but you still don’t need to work hard to get it. Now, Tahiti Hibiscus though is a dark shade but it applies a little uneven in the first layer. It is a little bit sheer on the first layer and then, the second layer makes it right. The last shade, i.e., Sicily Iris, is the most difficult shade to work with! Though it is a super dark shade it applies sheer in the first two layers and you really have to work hard to get an even application. Using a lip liner underneath will make the job much easier as it is really difficult to work with it alone. It is such a beautiful shade and I really want to wear it but the hard work that will go in wearing it makes me a little bit wary of it. So, my solution is the lip liner, I will always use this one especially with a lip liner.
I recommend all the shades to be used with a lip liner it will make the finish better and pigmentation and lasting power better too.
The formula of all these lip liquids is very good! They all are super comfortable on the lips and are not very drying. Using a lip balm underneath will make them even more comfortable. Lasting power of all these lip liquids is amazing, except for the nude shade Nairobi Camellia. Nairobi Camellia won’t be able to last a messy or heavy meal, but can easily last light snacks and drinks. On the other hand, the rest of the shades I have, last crazily long! I have had meals, burgers, messy ones while wearing them and they don’t really budge! They do fade a tiny bit from the inner rims of the lips but that isn’t very noticeable and doesn’t look bad either.
